 What happens when you drink alcohol during Pregnancy?

 Alcohol is toxic to a child.  When you drink alcohol it enters the mother's bloodstream directly into the baby through the placenta.

 Once alcohol enters the baby's bloodstream, it affects the baby's ability to get enough food, nutrients and oxygen for normal development in the brain and other organs.  This can affect the baby's brain and the growth of body organs in general.  This damage can affect a baby's ability to learn and think when he or she is born, a condition that will manifest itself in his or her actions as a child and as an adult.
